Diabetes medication Ozempic is being widely hailed as a miracle weight-loss drug. Talk show host Chelsea Handler says many of her well-known Hollywood pals are using it. However, Ozempic is not approved as a weight-loss drug. It’s prescribed for diabetes patients to bring down their blood sugar. There are also serious potential side effects including nausea, inflammation of the pancreas and kidney failure.

  2. Should I take health advice from Chelsea Handler? “I’ve injected about 4 or 5 of my friends with Ozempic”… really? You share your prescription drugs with your friends? Miss Handler? Fyi I’ve been on Ozempic for 18 months, no weight loss.

  5. What happens to all that blood sugar? In healthy people, it is either burned for energy for stored as glycogen/fat. In diabetics it is burned, stored, excreted in urine (damaging kidneys) or accumulated in blood (damaging organs it comes into contact with). It has to go somewhere. That pancreatic inflammation is serious stuff, unlike the kidney you cannot transplant a pancreas. Kidneys transplants itself cost thousands of dollar to maintain (on top of the initial cost the transplant). For some diabetics the benefits may outweigh the risks, but the same cannot be said for the other people. An otherwise healthy person could become an insulin-dependent diabetic as a result of this drugs side effects. Effectively causing what they were trying to prevent in the first place.

  6. Isn’t kidney failure something to consider? There’s a better way to lose weight. Check out Dr. Sten Ekberg for intermittent fasting.
