Carla, I have found so much inspiration from you. You are so articulate. I rarely comment on YouTube channels but you help me so much.
I have two reasons why I stay motivated. 1. mental health. 2. Physical health. I suffer with depression and anxiety.
I realized that I needed to make a change when in my late 40’s I started suffering from health issues. I was feeling terrible in my own body. I also had depression to the point that I didn’t care to do anything about it. I did some soul searching and I realized I HAD to make a change. I made a promise to myself that I would exercise 15 minutes 5 days a week. That was it. I made it as simple as I could so there could be absolutely no excuses. This is the key, I keep this promise to myself. I have to have integrity with my own self. Once I started exercising regularly for 15 minutes, my mental health improved to the point if there were no other benefits, this would be worth it. However, I’ve lost weight, gained strength, my mood and energy are better. I’m a nicer person to be around. I want to do things again.
Now I exercise 30 min or more five days a week and I eat in a calorie deficit. I couldn’t have made all of these changes right away. I learned to be patient and kind with myself and applaud each small change! It’s ok to go slow.
I’m 8 pounds away from a normal BMI now. Perfection is not my goal, health is.
