I had noticed last year that I had replaced hoarding with emotionally eating. I thought how strange that I so quickly developed this new habit and I didn’t want it to be a rooted habit like my hoarding. I didn’t want to buy all new clothes as a recovering hoarder, I just wanted to fit in the clothing I already owned. I was emotionally eating junk food and none of that is good for my body in the long term. I found what worked for me to stop emotionally eating and wanted to share it with everyone. I’m not a doctor, nutritionist or therapist…but I am very self aware of my own emotions, triggers and behaviors.

  1. I do yoga for many reasons every morning. To just mentally prepare for the day, to stretch my achy muscles. It has really helped with my neck pain from my desk job. To process emotions especially after my son passed i needed something regular to help with my feelings. I noticed in the beginning that it was so hard to just be in the moment and not have my mind run wild for 10 minutes. I only do 10 minutes daily. Now after a year of committing to it i can clear my mind and just be in the moment. I’d like to expand my time to 15 minutes but i like sleep too much hahahaha, so that hasn’t happened. I am very interested in trying yoga to relax before bedtime.

  2. Congratulations! You look terrific!

I’ve been stuck on the sofa with a broken foot since 11/4; it wasn’t treated properly by urgent care, so I’m still in a boot until 1/20. So I must say I’m so jealous of your walks outside!! I can’t wait to get back to it.

  3. I don’t emotionally eat, but I do have a sweet tooth and have gained some extra kilos in the last couple of years.. chocolate is my favourite. I simply can’t stop haha so it’s better for me not to have it at home. 😅
I also have anxiety sometimes and I recognise the need of a healthy outlet for that energy every day. Walking is my thing! Love it. Need to do it more this year! 🚶🏻‍♀️

  4. I recently found out that I fidget a lot when I watch TV .. and when I don’t have phone in my hand I tend to break my nails till the time the inner skin is seen.. 😪😪..
I never knew I had this disorder so never thought of replacing my habit…

Thank you for letting me know about these acitivites which I will certainly do while watching TV or may be when I feel anxious..

    Load of love. ❤️

  5. Congratulations on all of the success you have created in all areas of your life. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Happy New Year to you and your family! 🎉 May you experience an abundance of love, peace and joy in 2023! 🎉

  6. when you were showing the scene of you eating Doritos on the couch, you should have seen all the orbs flying about….you have angels on your side….♥

  7. Honestly, your content is SO AMAZING, because it’s incredibly realistic. So much of it is just recognizing bad coping mechanisms and replacing them slowly but surely with coping mechanisms that serve you positively. I don’t deal with hoarding, but I do deal with poor coping mechanisms and I find your messages so inspiring and your weekly messages about self-compassion and giving yourself grace while learning better coping skills has really helped me. Happy new year! I hope 2023 brings you your biggest dreams yet! 😀

  8. Well done. I’ve been doing the same thing. Started walking and going to outdoor yoga classes. As well as way less sugary treats, etc. today I tested my resolve and walked down the chip and snack food isle at the grocery store nothing looked irresistible today. Yay. Lots of fresh green produce and fruit instead.

  9. Thank you so much for the inspiration! I need this motivation to make the small changes to a better relationship with myself and food.
